Veldvoort: Scale: 3.5mm - 1ft. Gauge 16.5mm ('H0' ) by Ken Gibbons

Size: 10ft x 1ft 2inch (plus operator space), Operators: Two, Transport: One car.

The layout aims to depict in as small as space as possible, a typical wayside station of the once incredibly extensive Belgian national railway system. Set on the border between the Antwerp / Limburg region in the northern part of Flanders,  The trackplan is a very simplified and much compressed version of a typical wayside Belgian station layout. In real life, even small stations in Belgium can be very long, so I’ve had to compromise re the overall length to fit a workable track plan into a compact layout scheme.
The line is assumed to be one of a relatively rare set of lines still not electrified, hence various diesel types used in Flanders will be seen. The era is set as the mid/late 1980’s, and hints of contraction are depicted in that only trip freight workings and a sporadic Railcar proceed beyond the station, the main passenger workings to Antwerpen, Gent and Brugge all now terminate here.
Traffics aim to depict the mix of trip workings of varying commodities to varying installations along the line, plus regular Loco hauled passenger workings.
I’m still learning about the SNCB / NMBS, so I’m hoping that I’ve not taken too many liberties, or dropped too many clangers in trying to portray what I  hope is a typical Flanders railway location, albeit imaginary!!
